چکیده

Abstract A numerically efficient, semi‐analytical solution of the Reynolds equation for hydrodynamic journal bearings is developed based on Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method. The pressure field discretized along circumferential coordinate lubrication gap, while an analytical formulation used in axial direction. system inhomogeneous ordinary differential equations obtained, which solved under consideration boundary conditions. verified, and its numerical efficiency investigated comparison to FEM solution.

An efficient approximate method for solution of the heat equation using Laguerre-Gaussians radial functions

In the present paper, a numerical method is considered for solving one-dimensional heat equation subject to both Neumann and Dirichlet initial boundary conditions. This method is a combination of collocation method and radial basis functions (RBFs). The operational matrix of derivative for Laguerre-Gaussians (LG) radial basis functions is used to reduce the problem to a set of algebraic equatio...

Efficient solution of the non-linear Reynolds equation for compressible fluid using the finite element method

An efficient finite element scheme for solving the non-linear Reynolds equation for compressible fluid coupled to compliant structures is presented. The method is general and fast and can be used in the analysis of airfoil bearings with simplified or complex foil structure models. To illustrate the computational performance, it is applied to the analysis of a compliant foil bearing modelled usi...

NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF THE SPINLESS SALPETER EQUATION BY A SEMIANALYTICAL MATRIX METHOD (A Mathematica 4.0 Routine)

In quantum theory, the “spinless Salpeter equation,” the relativistic generalization of the nonrelativistic Schrödinger equation, is used to describe both bound states of scalar particles and the spin-averaged spectra of bound states of fermions. A numerical procedure solves the spinless Salpeter equation by approximating this eigenvalue equation by a matrix eigenvalue problem with explicitly k...

An Efficient Solution Technique for the Radiative Transfer Equation

The discretization of the multi{dimensional radiative transfer equation results in a very large linear system of equations. The standard solution method used by astrophysicists is a simpliied xed point iteration (called approximate {iteration) which becomes slow for problems most interesting in astrophysics. As an alternative, a class of (block) conjugate gradient{like methods is proposed, toge...
